Yesterday, June 11, 2024, the second meeting of the Advisory Board was held as part of the PRAGG - Proactive Citizens project. The event brought together board members with extensive experience and expertise within the civil sector, aiming to gather their valuable recommendations to help further develop PRAGG initiatives and activities.
One of the meeting participants, and a representative of the Local Democracy Agency (LDA) from Mostar, Dženana Dedić, reflected on PRAGG's achievements over the past year: "I am very glad that the concept of the International Community has changed and that they have started to understand that only working at the local level and with ordinary people can bring about change. PRAGG tries to spread a positive narrative and show 'ordinary people' how to achieve change, how to start with a small goal. Young people are key in this story, as they need to be shown the path of change, which will make democracy a way of life."
Srđan Puhalo, a psychologist and activist, added that in the current environment, it is extremely challenging to remain active and try to achieve changes: "The situation in the NGO sector in BiH is quite difficult. We face pressures from all sides, which further complicates the work and survival of the NGO sector in BiH."
In the final part of the meeting, it was emphasized that non-governmental organizations should continue to bring their expertise closer to local communities: "I particularly liked that citizens and local authorities have started to be valued. I believe that new value criteria, primarily responsibility, should be built from the ground up, and that ground is the citizens, ordinary people who are the best part of our society. We need to work with them, restore their dignity, and value their opinions. PRAGG is doing just that, which is a great quality of this project," concluded Vehid Šehić from the Tuzla Citizens' Forum.
We thank all the participants for their contributions and look forward to future successes.
