Yesterday, in the social center of Dobropolje-Mekiš in Tešanj, as part of the 'Equal Opportunities, Equal Dreams' campaign, a public discussion on the position of persons with disabilities was held. The discussion highlighted priorities for addressing architectural barriers at entrances and access to public institutions in the municipality of Tešanj.

Participants in the discussion included representatives of citizens, public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the mayor of Tešanj, Suad Huskić. Mayor Huskić not only supported the campaign but also emphasized the need to align priorities in addressing architectural barriers in public institutions.

In his address, Mayor Huskić expressed strong support for the 'Equal Opportunities, Equal Dreams' campaign and emphasized the importance of collective action to ensure the resolution of key issues related to the access of persons with disabilities to public institutions. He particularly underscored the need to define priorities regarding architectural barriers and highlighted that the Municipality of Tešanj will actively work on addressing these issues from the next year.

"As the mayor, it's a challenge for me too. I would love to have the funds to do everything immediately; I would be the happiest. However, you must understand that in the public debate, there were 7.5 million KM worth of requests, more than we currently have. So, we have to weigh what we can do that will bring the most benefit to all people and that the largest number of people will use," said Huskić.

During this event, the commitment of the Municipality of Tešanj to creating an inclusive environment for all citizens, in line with the values of equality and justice, was expressed.

This campaign is part of the PRAGG project funded by the Government of Switzerland and implemented by the consortium composed of HELVETAS and NIRAS, in partnership with local partners, the Centers for Civil Initiatives (CCI), and the Institute for Youth Development KULT.
