Timely care for women’s health begins with concrete steps at the local community level. One such step is expected in Gacko, where the Draft Decision on the Adoption of the Local Action Plan for the Prevention of Female Reproductive Organ Cancers for the period 2026–2030 will be presented to the Municipal Assembly members.
The document, which will be considered under agenda item 18, represents an important step towards improving women’s healthcare at the local level, with a particular focus on prevention, early detection of diseases, and raising awareness of the importance of regular preventive screenings.
The initiative to improve women’s health and establish a systematic approach to preventing cancers of the female reproductive organs is led by the “Riječ” Women’s Association from Gacko. Through an advocacy campaign implemented with the support of the PRAGG – Proactive Citizens and Citizens’ Associations project, the association seeks to contribute to the development of long-term and sustainable solutions in the field of preventive healthcare for women.
The adoption of the Local Action Plan is expected to help create better conditions for informing women about health risks, encouraging preventive screenings, and strengthening local support mechanisms for reproductive health protection.
The particular importance of this initiative lies in its efforts to establish women’s health as one of the local community’s priorities and to contribute to improving preventive healthcare through a planned and systematic approach.
The inclusion of this document on the agenda of the Gacko Municipal Assembly represents an important step forward in efforts to improve the institutional approach to preventing cancers of the female reproductive organs.
If adopted, the Local Action Plan for the 2026–2030 period will provide a foundation for further activities aimed at improving prevention, access to information, and the protection of women’s health in the Municipality of Gacko.
Investing in prevention and women’s health means investing in a healthier, safer, and stronger community in which every woman has the opportunity to receive timely support and the care she needs to protect her health.
