Members of the “Hercegovka” Women’s Association from Nevesinje noticed an increasing incidence of cervical cancer in their community. This prompted them, with the support of PRAGG, to launch the “Responsible for Myself” campaign, aimed at educating and empowering women to take better care of their reproductive health.

“Statistics are warning us. Cervical cancer and breast cancer are two of the leading cancers affecting women aged 30 to 65. But these diseases can be prevented through timely screening and early detection.”

As part of the campaign, advocacy efforts were launched for the adoption of a Local Action Plan (LAP) for the Prevention of Cancers of the Female Reproductive System. The initiative received support from the local authorities, following which the development of the LAP was initiated.

The adoption of the plan is expected in the coming months. It would establish a systematic approach to disease prevention and early detection through education, preventive gynecological examinations, and Pap tests.
