Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of getting to know two remarkable young women – Adna Čovrk and Selma Hodžić. During their internship at the Helvetas BiH office, we learned together, exchanged experiences, and discovered through everyday tasks how different perspectives strengthen every team.

That is why we are especially happy to congratulate not only Adna and Selma, but also the entire first generation of students who have successfully completed the University of Sarajevo's Interdisciplinary Professional Study Programme in Administrative and Gerontological Services.

This study programme marks an important step forward in advancing inclusive higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through adapted teaching methods, individualised support and practical work experience, students have been given the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that will open new pathways for active participation in society and the world of work.

During their internship at Helvetas BiH, Adna and Selma became part of our everyday team. We worked together on administrative and communications tasks, but what stayed with us most was not simply the work we accomplished – it was the experience of learning from one another. Their dedication, sense of responsibility, creativity and sincerity reminded us that inclusion is not achieved through big statements, but through everyday relationships, mutual trust and a willingness to learn from each other.

That is why the graduation of this first generation is significant not only for the graduates and their families, but for society as a whole. It is another reminder that inclusive education creates space for different talents to thrive and that communities become stronger when every person has the opportunity to develop their full potential.

Because when society creates opportunities for everyone to learn, work and contribute, success is never individual alone – it becomes something we share.
