Citizens of Bugojno continue to send a clear message that they want the opportunity to once again elect representatives of their local communities. Conversations with residents increasingly highlight the fact that, without elected local community councils, these bodies cannot fully represent the interests of residents or serve as an effective channel of communication between citizens and local authorities. Many believe this is one of the main reasons why numerous neighbourhood issues remain unresolved for years or fail to receive the attention of decision-makers.

During two street outreach activities held on 19 June 2026 at the square in Sultan Ahmedova Street and on 26 June 2026 at the promenade in front of the children's playground in Sultan Ahmedova Street, citizens had the opportunity to learn more about the initiative to organize elections for local community councils and discuss the challenges they face in their neighbourhoods on a daily basis.

The discussions most frequently focused on issues such as poorly maintained public spaces, inadequate municipal infrastructure, traffic and public safety concerns, as well as the feeling that citizens have too few opportunities to influence decisions affecting the development of their local communities. Participants emphasized that elections for local community councils would represent an important step towards strengthening citizens' role in local governance and improving communication with the relevant public institutions.

The strong public interest and numerous conversations during the street outreach activities demonstrated that citizens are eager to once again take an active role in decision-making on issues that affect their neighbourhoods and everyday lives.

Following the completion of the signature collection campaign in the field, the next phase of the campaign will be the launch of an online petition, enabling residents who were unable to attend the street activities to support the initiative as well. Once the signature collection process is completed, the citizens' initiative, together with the collected signatures, will be submitted to the Municipality of Bugojno and the Municipal Council of Bugojno, with the aim of initiating the procedures necessary to call elections for local community councils.

The Youth Centre Bugojno Association extends its sincere gratitude to all citizens who took the time to speak with volunteers, share their experiences, and support this initiative. The strong public interest and numerous conversations held during the street outreach activities once again confirmed that citizens have a clear desire to actively participate in shaping decisions that affect their neighbourhoods and everyday lives.
