This year’s PRAGG Civic Participation Days have come to a close. From September 15 to 19, they brought together citizens across Bosnia and Herzegovina in a joint reminder that democracy is alive only as much as we participate in it.

Every decision we take part in and every question we raise makes democracy stronger and closer to the people. That is precisely why these events matter – they encourage us not to stand on the sidelines of democratic processes but to shape them with our voices, ideas, and initiatives. Only through active participation can we be certain that decisions are made in the interest of all citizens.

This year, the streets and squares of eight local communities became spaces of dialogue and open expression – places where citizens felt free to speak about what concerns them, propose solutions, and show that they are not alone in their efforts.

Safeguarding democracy means acting every day. We have the power to inspire others, launch initiatives, and defend the rights of those around us. Our courage to act today is the guarantee that tomorrow we will live in a society that is fairer, more open, and closer to people.

For that reason, we thank all citizens who supported this year’s Civic Participation Days with their presence and engagement, as well as all the media outlets that shared the messages of these events – because we are all part of civil society.
