Organized by the Youth Council of the Municipality of Odžak, a Citizens' Forum was held on July 16, 2025, in the Small Council Hall. The event was attended by representatives of the local government, municipal councilors, and citizens of Odžak, who discussed the position of young people in this local community.

"Today we are here because we believe that young people, civil society, and local authorities can work together to find solutions to key issues affecting youth - from creating spaces for gathering, to strategic planning, to supporting projects that will make Odžak a place where young people want to stay and grow", said Iva Dujaković, President of the Youth Council of the Municipality of Odžak.

Amela Dedić, a member of the Council, emphasized: “This topic was brought to the forefront because through conversations with young people and the work of the Youth Council, it became clear that Odžak lacks an adequate space where young people can gather, develop ideas, and work on projects. That’s precisely why this issue has been recognized as a priority - because without a space for collaboration and creativity, it’s difficult to build an active and engaged youth community”.

In his address, Mayor Anes Osmanović expressed readiness for continued dialogue and emphasized the importance of involving young people in decision-making processes. He promised to continue discussions regarding the issue of space and described support for the development of a Youth Strategy as “an important and long-term process that we all need to be part of”. Positive messages also came from the Chairwoman of the Municipal Council, Jelica Ćubel, and municipal councilor Marin Dujak, who praised the youth initiative and called for strengthening partnerships. During the discussion, the main obstacles faced by young people in the local community were highlighted, along with concrete proposals on how to overcome them together. Mato Vranjić, a member of the Youth Council, delivered an inspiring speech in which he emphasized the importance of youth activism and shared some of his personal experiences, stating to all those present: “We seek our rights peacefully, respectfully, but firmly. Our energy can bring about change”.

The Youth Council of the Municipality of Odžak has firmly announced its continued engagement through meetings with local decision-makers, as well as efforts to inform and educate fellow citizens to foster a better understanding of the importance of the initiatives presented. The Council believes that such gatherings and open discussions are the foundation for long-term change and the strengthening of the entire community. By actively involving and empowering young people, conditions are being created that not only improve life today but also encourage youth to remain in their town - recognizing it as a place for growth and contribution. The Council states that they are open to cooperation with all who share this vision and invites everyone interested to join them in developing and implementing new ideas, initiatives, and projects. As they emphasize: The future of Odžak is written by young people - let’s start the change together!
