The Youth Council of the Municipality of Odžak organized a street action during which they distributed informational leaflets to local citizens, announcing upcoming activities aimed at improving the quality of life for young people in Odžak. As they stated, the youth of Odžak have been actively contributing to their local community for years by organizing various events, volunteering, and now taking a step further by initiating proposals to the local authorities focused on youth development and well-being in Odžak.

“Although we, as young people, have been very active in our community in Odžak for many years, we believe that to work even more effectively, we deserve a safe and functional space where we can hold workshops, develop ideas, socialize, and learn — all for the benefit of our community. That’s why we have decided to formally request from our local government that they allocate premises to be used for the creative and productive work of youth in Odžak. In order to make a concrete and meaningful contribution to the improvement of our community, we also believe that young people should be included in the municipal budget and that systemic support should be provided for youth initiatives”, said Iva Dujaković, President of the Youth Council of the Municipality of Odžak.

“This street action marks the beginning of our work. I must mention that we previously held two meetings – one with the Mayor of the Municipality of Odžak, Anes Osmanović, and another with the President of the Municipal Council, Jelica Ćubel. What is encouraging is the fact that both expressed interest and willingness to cooperate with young people, as well as to support the realization of ideas that are a priority for youth in Odžak. By that, I mean support for future projects, the development of a Youth Strategy, and long-term support for young people”, explained Amela Dedić from the Youth Council of the Municipality of Odžak.

The Youth Council of the Municipality of Odžak firmly announces its continued efforts, including organizing citizen forums, holding meetings with local decision-makers, and informing and educating fellow citizens to raise awareness about the importance of the planned activities. They believe such processes are vital for the long-term improvement and strengthening of the community, and that they also serve as motivation for young people to stay in Odžak and actively contribute to building a better future for all generations. The Youth Council is open to cooperation and invites everyone interested to join them in developing ideas, initiatives, projects, and success stories together - because the future of Odžak is written by its youth; Let’s start the change together!
