In the heart of Bratunac and Maglaj, citizens are finding the strength to change their lives and communities. Knowledge has opened doors for them to understand how to use consultation mechanisms and how to participate courageously and responsibly in decision-making processes that shape their everyday lives.
Thanks to training sessions within the PRAGG project, citizens are becoming more aware that they have the power to initiate concrete changes. Through practical examples and interactive sessions, participants learn how to use available consultation mechanisms and how to constructively engage in decision-making processes.
Mirnesa Smajić, one of the founders of the “New Beginning” Association from Bratunac, says that citizens can and should be more active, but they often lack the knowledge and skills to persist in their demands.
The goal of these trainings is to empower citizens to recognize opportunities for action and not wait for changes — but to initiate them themselves!
Petar Vasić, a member of the “Movement for Change,” after the training in Bratunac, stated that the knowledge he gained will help him better involve citizens and motivate them to take action.
The trainings strengthen individuals’ capacities and thus help them recognize their own role in social processes.
“What I liked most was concretizing the problems in the community, and I think this will help me better understand local authorities,” said one participant from Maglaj.
Participants of previous trainings often emphasize that only through this program did they realize how important it is not to rely solely on others but to actively participate in creating solutions for problems affecting their daily lives.
