That significant achievements are possible through joint efforts, that authorities and citizens can successfully cooperate, and that positive steps can be made at the local level – is confirmed in Trebinje.
Through constructive and successful cooperation between Trebinje’s citizens’ associations "Stop Mobbing", "Sonata", and "Oaza" and representatives of the local city authorities, with the support of the PRAGG project, a free parking area for parents of young children up to preschool age who use the services of the Children’s Clinic will soon be completed in this Herzegovinian town.
To reach this point, it was first necessary to demolish structures that obstructed the construction of the parking area in front of the Clinic. This was followed by the development of required plans and documentation, obtaining approval from judicial institutions that own parts of the land designated for the parking area, clearing and preparing the site, and finally, paving and marking the parking spaces. All of this work has been actively carried out over the past few months, ultimately resulting in success.
To finalize this project, it is still necessary to add horizontal road markings, install a barrier gate, and set up an intercom system, which will serve as a preventive measure against misuse of the parking area, as it is intended exclusively for parents of young children who are taking their little ones to medical check-ups at the Children’s Clinic.
Once completed, the parking area is expected to offer 11 parking spaces for parents, with one space designated for parents with disabilities. It is believed that all final steps will be completed by next month, allowing parents to park their vehicles without fear of receiving a parking fine under their windshield wipers — which has been the case until now when parking in the widened area across from the Children’s Clinic.
The associations that initiated this effort say that all parents of young children in Trebinje are eager for the project to be completed, but also grateful that the city authorities recognized and responded to their needs — as well as the needs of the youngest and most vulnerable members of the community.
Upon completion of the works, the three mentioned associations announced a special event to officially mark the opening of the new parking area — to the great joy of Trebinje’s residents, both young and old. The event will carry a heartfelt message: “The world will be happy when every child is happy!”
