With the arrival of warmer weather, as previously announced, final works have begun on the free parking area in front of the Children's Dispensary in Trebinje. This news has especially pleased parents, who will no longer have to run across the street with their little ones to reach the Dispensary - a particular issue during bad weather conditions.

In the past few months, the Trebinje citizen associations "Stop Mobbing" and "Oaza" have actively and successfully collaborated with representatives of the Trebinje City Administration to achieve the goal and desire of parents with preschool-aged children. Specifically, after numerous complaints from parents who could not park their vehicles in front of the Children's Dispensary in Trebinje, and had to pay fines for "illegal parking," an initiative was launched last year, with the help of the PRAGG project, to address the issue of (free) parking in front of the Children's Dispensary.

The good news is that the relevant authorities from the Trebinje City Administration responded positively, and by the end of last summer, they removed the structures across from the Children's Dispensary that were obstructing the construction of the parking lot. This demonstrated their willingness to resolve this long-standing issue faced by parents of young children who use the services of the Children's Dispensary. After a series of constructive meetings, a survey conducted in Trebinje, and signatures of support from parents of preschool-aged children, it was decided and agreed that, following the clearing of the area, a free parking lot would be built across from the Children's Dispensary. Additionally, measures will be taken to prevent the misuse of parking spaces intended exclusively for parents of these children, thereby improving living conditions and access to healthcare services for families with young children in Trebinje.

What was promised has ultimately been delivered – recently, the asphalt base was laid, followed by construction works related to the building of sidewalks, curbs, asphalting of the parking lot, and marking of parking spaces. One of the parking spots will be specifically designated (and marked) for parents with disabilities who bring their children to the Children's Dispensary.

Since the final works have already begun, it is estimated that they should take about 20 days to complete. It is optimistically hoped that by the end of May, all work will be completed, and the first vehicle of parents with preschool-aged children will be parked in the new parking lot. At that point, parents will finally be able to take their children to the Children's Dispensary in Trebinje for necessary medical care, without the fear of receiving a fine under the windshield wiper of their vehicles.
