The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its 51st regular session, adopted the Strategy for the improvement of the rights and position of persons with disabilities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2025-2030. This came after the previous Strategy expired in 2021, during which time the Federation lacked continuity in this extremely important strategic document, which underpins all significant policies adopted in the field of improving the rights and position of persons with disabilities.
This Strategy lays the foundation for systemic support for persons with disabilities, including the improvement of access to education, employment, healthcare, and social services, as well as strengthening institutional capacities to provide adequate assistance.
The document is the result of extensive consultations with civil society organizations, experts, and institutions, and its measures are aligned with international standards and the recommendations of the UN Convention on the Rights of persons with disabilities, as announced by the Federal ministry of labor and social policy.
The Strategy defines specific steps we will take in the coming years, with clear goals and mechanisms for monitoring their implementation", announced the Federal minister of labor and social policy, Adnan Delić, as reported by the portal Akta.ba.
The Strategy for the period 2025-2030 places a special emphasis on strengthening intersectoral cooperation, financial sustainability of support programs, and the development of new services that will improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities.
Additionally, it foresees a revision of legal and sub-legal acts to ensure their alignment with the latest standards of protection and support for this population.
Before the implementation of the Strategy, it still needs to be adopted by the houses of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
