Renowned journalist, host, and producer Emela Burdžović has expressed her support for the initiative to include femicide—gender-based murder of women—into the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH). This initiative, led by the organization Glas žene in cooperation with the Women's Association Izvor – Zdena, the team Volim život Cazin, the Association Ženska vizija, and the Mostar Citizens’ Initiative, aims to ensure that femicide is legally defined as a distinct criminal offense.

🗣 "It is time for femicide to finally be introduced into the Criminal Code as a criminal offense. I am calling on the FBiH Parliament to make this happen during the session on January 28. Enough is enough, and we will no longer die in silence," said Burdžović.

As a reminder, a regular session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament is scheduled for January 28, where the proposal to introduce femicide into the Criminal Code will be discussed. Organizations and activists are hopeful that representatives will recognize the significance of this initiative and make a decision that will contribute to the protection of women’s lives and the fight against gender-based violence.
