On December 12th, a Youth Forum was held at the Gallery of the Cultural Center to discuss the potential for opening a Youth Center in Bijeljina. The event was organized by the youth organization "Vision of Youth" with the aim of initiating a discussion on the importance of creating a space that would provide young people with a place for gathering, creative expression, education, and collaboration.

The forum featured the participation of the President of the Youth Council of the Republic of Srpska, the Youth Center in Prnjavor, and councilor Aleksandar Ostojić, who shared their experiences and best practices. The event was also attended by representatives of the City Administration, councilors, youth activists from political parties, high schools, universities, and civil associations.

Support for Increasing Budget Allocations for Youth

A councilor of the City Assembly emphasized the importance of investing in young people and announced plans to advocate for an increase in budget funds allocated for youth projects. He also highlighted the need for introducing a specific budget item to ensure continuous support for youth activities in Bijeljina.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear about ongoing plans and initiatives as well as to share their own ideas and proposals for the further development of the Youth Center. Panelists pointed out that such a space could significantly improve the status of youth in Bijeljina and provide support for their personal and professional growth.

The President of the Youth Council raised the question of why cities have spaces dedicated to other countries but lack spaces for young people that promote local culture. She highlighted the need to create areas dedicated to the promotion of local culture, identity, and opportunities for young people within the Republic of Srpska. This, she argued, would further strengthen their connection to the local community and provide a platform for growth and idea exchange.

The youth organization "Vision of Youth" announced the continuation of activities related to this initiative and called on all interested parties to join the process of bringing it to fruition.
