The Association of Paraplegics and Individuals Affected by Childhood Paralysis in Zenica, following the submission of an initiative aimed at funding representative organizations for people with disabilities and civilian war victims, held a meeting with the City Administration led by Mayor Fuad Kasumović. The meeting resulted in the acceptance of the Initiative to include funding for programs of representative organizations for people with disabilities and civilian war victims in the city budget.

This initiative represents a significant step toward ensuring the necessary support for organizations that advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and civilian war victims, who often face numerous challenges in achieving their rights and needs.

The mayor and the city administration recognized the importance of this issue and expressed their willingness to implement the initiative to provide support to these organizations. This would make Zenica the first city in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to fund the work of organizations for people with disabilities through a public call.

"The goal we want to achieve in this case is to ensure that organizations for people with disabilities that have representative status are recognized in the budget and become the organizations with which discussions and negotiations will take place regarding all significant issues affecting people with disabilities. Unfortunately, what we often encounter as individuals with disabilities is, in most cases, the failure to implement existing legal solutions", explained Harun Aliefendić. The adoption and implementation of this initiative will contribute to a systematic and legal resolution of the problems these individuals have faced for years.

The realization of this initiative will improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and civilian war victims and will have a positive impact on building a more inclusive society. Such measures are crucial for empowering the community and raising awareness about the rights of vulnerable groups.
