With an abundance of enthusiasm, teamwork, and incredible energy, the second "Citizen Activism Days" have successfully concluded. This event clearly demonstrated the immense potential that lies within local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Citizens of Maglaj, Breza, Cazin, Doboj, Odžak, Prnjavor, and Srbac had the opportunity to share their ideas and suggestions, showing a willingness to actively contribute to positive changes in their communities. It was inspiring to witness how many citizens are eager to participate in solving problems and how much they care about the progress of their local communities. The collected issues, with the support of the PRAGG project, will be presented to local authorities, businesses, and civil society organizations in these communities, with the goal of finding effective mechanisms for their resolution.
"In this way, we strive to ensure that the voices of citizens are heard and that concrete initiatives for problem-solving are implemented in practice. We want to encourage broader citizen participation in public processes, as well as foster dialogue, cooperation, and transparency between citizens and local authorities. PRAGG will certainly support citizen groups in advocating for solutions to some of these issues," said Slaviša Prorok, PRAGG Project Manager.
Given that citizens will elect their representatives in local government in October, it is important for citizens, civil society, and government to work together on societal progress through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect. This is just the beginning! Citizen Activism Days represent the starting point for further work on solving the issues identified during this event. Stay tuned, as we will soon announce the next steps in addressing the majority of the problems identified by the citizens of these seven local communities!
