Last month (July 2024), Amina Omerbašić, the President of the Board of the Youth Council of Tuzla Canton, and Muharem Šehić from the Youth Association of Babići “Sijedi krš,” Gračanica, were guests on the Summer Magazine program of RTVTK. The main topics of discussion were initiatives supported through the PRAGG project, citizen activism, and the belief that positive change, with consistent work and effort, is not only possible but also powerful!

Regarding the initiative to increase youth participation in local decision-making processes in the city of Gradačac, its members have finally achieved their goal, as reported last month. With the help of city councilors, they succeeded in having the city authorities adopt a Youth Strategy, which will be in effect from 2024 to 2027. After years of effort, it is to be hoped that the youth of Gradačac will make the most of this Strategy, and that decision-makers, with the support of the civil sector, will take their obligation seriously and ensure that this Strategy does not remain just words on paper, as youth are our strength and the future of the world depends on them!

Additionally, in June, we celebrated the success of the Initiative for Providing More Content for Children and Youth in Gračanica, when we reported on the start of playground construction at the Primary School “Hasan Kikić” in Babići, to be completed by the end of 2024. At that time, the Association stated: “The holiday season has begun, and the machines are already at the playground. It looks like we will soon see a new look in front of the playground!” As a reminder, the City of Gračanica allocated 26,000 convertible marks from its 2024 budget for the construction of the school playground. Additionally, extra funds were approved from the budget of the MZ Babići. Financial assistance also came from the Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton, which will allocate 25,000 convertible marks. According to preliminary estimates by experts, the allocated funds are sufficient to complete the playground construction.
