After a series of street actions across Bosnia and Herzegovina organized by the PRAGG team last year, and constructive discussions with citizens about the everyday challenges they face, PRAGG Project Manager, Slaviša Prorok, and Communications Manager, Nikolina Vilov Mahmutović, appeared live on the 'Topic of the Day' show on Kalman Radio yesterday. During more than 45 minutes of live programming, Nikolina and Slaviša, along with listeners from various Bosnian cities such as Tuzla, Mostar, Sarajevo, and others, discussed the topic of the day: 'Is change possible through individual activism?'

Instead of focusing on the sensationalism of negative narratives, the show highlighted numerous successful stories of individuals in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regularly presented by PRAGG through interviews with Bosnian activists in the 'Best Practices' section, who have achieved positive changes in society through personal activism. In addition, some of the recent successful initiatives supported through PRAGG activities were mentioned:

  • Resolved issue of personal assistance for persons with disabilities (PWD) in the city of Bijeljina. The Mayor accepted the initiative for personal assistance in Bijeljina, and the municipal committee took formal steps to implement it. The right to personal assistance services was also included as a proposal in the Decision on Expanded Rights and Services in Social Welfare.
  • Resolved issue of architectural barriers and access for PWD to public institutions and facilities in Tešanj. The Mayor accepted the initiative to remove architectural barriers in Tešanj and publicly committed to providing access for PWD to public institutions in the coming year.
  • Resolved flood problem in the Donja Puharska local community. The Mayor confirmed that funds would be allocated from the budget and that efforts would begin to repair the Puharska riverbed in the coming year.
  • 26,000 KM allocated in the budget of the Municipality of Gračanica for 2024 for financing the construction of a playground in front of the branch school in Babići.
  • The City of Gradačac adopted a Decision on the development of a Youth Strategy for the period 2024-2027.

The PRAGG team thanks all listeners who participated in the live program, asked questions to the guests in the studio, and shared their experiences. Additionally, we extend special thanks to the wonderful team at Kalman Radio for their hospitality and for using their media platform to spread a positive narrative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby contributing to positive change in the country!
