Great news from Trebinje — on Monday, November 10, 2025, a free parking area for parents and guardians of preschool-age children was officially opened across from the Children’s Dispensary in Trebinje. Over the past several months, the implementation of this important project was actively and successfully carried out by the citizens’ associations “Stop Mobing”, “Oaza”, and several other organizations, with the support of the PRAGG project and in excellent cooperation with representatives of the City Administration of Trebinje, particularly the Department for Communal and Inspection Affairs.
Since parents bringing their preschool-age children to the Children’s Dispensary previously had no possibility to park nearby, the need to resolve this issue as soon as possible became evident. The aforementioned associations therefore launched an initiative, submitting it to the City Administration and the Mayor of Trebinje, proposing the construction of a free parking lot across from the Children’s Dispensary. The proposal was supported by research findings and a petition signed by parents and guardians.
The City Administration of Trebinje promptly accepted the initiative, and the competent Department for Communal and Inspection Affairs began activities to obtain the necessary documentation, remove obstacles that hindered construction, and prepare the site for asphalting. The issue of potential misuse of the parking lot was also addressed by installing a ramp and intercom system, allowing parents who bring their children to the doctor to announce their arrival to the on-duty medical staff at the Children’s Dispensary.
The free parking area provides 10 marked spaces for parents and guardians, one of which is designated for parents with disabilities. The construction of this parking facility will undoubtedly improve the quality of life and make visits easier for parents and guardians of approximately 1,800 preschool-age children who use the services of the Children’s Dispensary.
Anica Ramić, President of the citizens’ association “Stop Mobing”, expressed great satisfaction with the cooperation with city authorities and the successful completion of this significant project for all parents and children in Trebinje:
“I am very happy that this initiative has come to a positive conclusion. Many parents have already contacted me to say how eagerly they awaited the completion of this parking lot, and today I can proudly say that our story has had a happy ending. I would like to thank Mr. Mirko Ćurić, Mayor of Trebinje, as well as Mr. Spasoje Radović, Head of the Department for Communal and Inspection Affairs, and his closest associates, who from the beginning of this campaign showed empathy and understanding and ultimately fulfilled the promise made last year. Thanks to everyone who in any way contributed to the realization of our initiative. Starting today, parents can park their cars free of charge without fear of receiving a ticket when they leave the Dispensary. I am convinced that this step will help improve the quality of life for parents and, above all, for the youngest residents of Trebinje.”
This example clearly demonstrates that positive change is possible when citizens, associations, and local authorities work together — united by the common goal of improving life in their community.
