The Parents’ Association of Children with Developmental Disabilities “Budi mi prijatelj” (Be My Friend) has announced the start of renovation works on the premises that will soon become Jablanica’s first Inclusive Center.

“We started with nothing but a dream — a dream born out of necessity — and today that dream is becoming reality. Our wish is for Jablanica to become a town of equal opportunities for all its children. The opening of the Inclusive Center is not only our goal – it’s an investment in the future of our community,” said representatives of “Budi mi prijatelj”, who have been advocating for the opening of the first Inclusive Center in Jablanica for months, with the support of the PRAGG project.

The space for the future Inclusive Center was allocated to the Association by the Municipality of Jablanica. Before it becomes operational, the premises need to be fully renovated and equipped.

Renovation works began recently, with the first phase including the replacement of doors, windows, and interior joinery. The project is financed through the 2025 Municipal Budget of Jablanica and donations collected via numerous humanitarian actions organized by the Association in recent months.

Local residents and small construction business owners have also responded to the call for support, offering to complete part of the works entirely free of charge — demonstrating in action how much solidarity and community spirit can achieve.

Although the beginning of works marks a major step forward, many challenges remain. Additional funds are still needed to furnish and ensure the sustainable operation of the Center, as well as to establish a long-term financing model.

“Every form of support — whether a donation, volunteer engagement, or simply spreading the word about our work — means the world to us. Together, we can create a space that will serve generations to come,” said members of the Association “Budi mi prijatelj.”
