In September, through a series of local trainings on formal consultation mechanisms, PRAGG once again reignited hope and activated people—not as numbers, but as neighbors, parents, teachers, and friends who want their communities to be better, safer, and fairer. The trainings held in Banja Luka, Livno, and Vitez were not just about transferring knowledge: they were a call to action and proof that a small group of people can spark a chain of real change.
The focus of the workshops was on simple, practical knowledge—how to read the legal framework, where and how to get involved in decision-making processes, and how to influence local issues through clear and organized advocacy. The format was interactive, with practical exercises and exchange of experiences, while the friendly and encouraging atmosphere helped participants turn what they learned into concrete steps right away.
Livno: Small Group, Big Result
We especially want to highlight Livno: although the workshop held on September 20, 2025 gathered only five participants, it turned out that numbers are not the only measure of success. This small, motivated group quickly identified a local problem— a dangerous street next to an elementary school, children’s playground, and the Center for Social Work— and together launched a small but significant civic initiative.
As a direct result of the training, citizens organized themselves: 27 residents gathered and submitted a request to the local authorities for the installation of speed bumps (“sleeping policemen”) to protect children and all pedestrians.
This is the kind of story we love: knowledge that immediately sparks action. Five people who completed the training passed on their skills to a wider group and initiated a concrete request—an example of “from the street to systemic change.”
"Everything was perfect, you’re the best. I can’t wait for another training and will gladly take part again! I will definitely put into practice the advocacy skills I’ve learned." – said one of the participants in Livno.
Banja Luka and Vitez
The workshops in Banja Luka and Vitez were also full of energy and practical ideas. Participants carefully developed local case studies, carried out advocacy simulations, and strengthened connections among each other—because lasting change is born through cooperation. Their stories, plans, and small victories confirm that the effort invested in education quickly bears fruit.
"What I liked most was that we carried out the training through mutual interaction and exchange of opinions, and came to many conclusions on our own. My perspective on some things has changed, as well as how, as individuals, we can take part in changing our community." – said one participant from Vitez.
"I will definitely be even more persistent than before—and I’m already very persistent. I would organize workshops like this at least once a year in our town of Vitez, so that citizens become more aware, more relaxed, and more willing to engage in such activities!" – added another participant from Vitez.
One of the participants in Banja Luka said: "I will recognize opportunities that others organize and maybe get more involved in local community work according to the rights we are entitled to as citizens."
Why These Trainings Matter—From People’s Perspective
These workshops are not just “learning about procedures.” They restore a sense of responsibility and personal power: a parent who understands how to propose a safety solution to the local administration, a young activist who knows how to draft a request and rally support, a neighbor who no longer feels their voice doesn’t matter. Small stories—like Livno—show that even one step can spark many others.
