The Babići local community in Gračanica had not had an adequate playground for many years as part of the regional "Hasan Kikić" Elementary School. However, thanks to the efforts of young activists, parents, the school principal, the Municipal Council, and the PRAGG project, this has changed. The construction of the school playground is a positive example of collaboration across all segments of society.

"I feel proud. We succeeded together, in cooperation with everyone, to build this playground so that the children who are currently attending school, as well as future generations, will have an adequate place to play, not only during school hours but also on weekends to spend their free time," proudly points out Safija Avdić, an activist from the Youth Association "Sijedi krš" in Babići, which initiated the playground construction project.

In a time when young people are heavily occupied with the internet and the viral world, it is extremely important for parents that their children have a space for healthy play in the fresh air, where they can develop their motor skills while also being safe. The elementary school in Babići has once again come to life, as not only during physical education classes but also on weekends, the laughter and joy of children echo through Babići.

"At the beginning, I was a bit skeptical about the playground itself, but when I saw that non-governmental organizations and both cantonal and municipal authorities got involved, I realized that it bore fruit and that activism in our country is, after all, worthwhile," concludes Mirela Fazlić, the mother of two elementary school students from Babići.

The PRAGG project is funded by the Swiss Government and implemented by the consortium #HELVETAS and #NIRAS in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with local partners the Centers for Civil Initiatives (#CCI) and the Institute for Youth Development #KULT.
